Are you going to need to replace your residential or commercial roof anytime in the near future? If you are, you will soon be wondering how to find the best roofing contractor. There are many theories on the exact science in order to hire the best roofing contractor to do your job at a reasonable price. These lists of questions for contractors and tasks for property owners seems to be more work than what the roofing job you are looking to get done entails itself. In my 22 years of experience in this field in working with 1000’s of clients and 100’s of contractors and sub- contractors I have found out that the best approach to hiring the best out there is this. It simply boils down to morals and values. Yes, a company as a whole has morals and values.

      A potential roofing contractor when meeting at your home or building to discuss the job will have an owner present or a rep from the company. To me the most important factor in hiring besides qualifications is good old fashioned honesty. That right folks, honesty. Do you feel that honesty plays a big part in the company you are inquiring about? Does the person you are working with come off as honest and helpful? You can read a lot about a person and company in the first few minutes of conversation. If you are not getting a good vibe from the company rep, or owner you should go with your instincts. Do not hire them! If a roofing company will hire dishonest personnel chances are the company is not the caliber you are looking for. A company is only as strong as its weakest link. Even if a company passes all your questions with flying colors, your assigned rep from that roofing company will be handling, and coordinating your roof job. If you are uncomfortable with that rep your instincts are telling you in advance that your roof is not going to be completed as good as you would want it to.

It took me many years of experience to be able to answer the question, how to find the best roofing contractor. You must not only be comfortable with the ability of the company, but just as important  you must be comfortable with the ability of the rep that would be handling and coordinating your roof job.
